Ukraine news LIVE: Vladimir Putin’s own officials call for despot to be REMOVED as Russia suffers ‘significant’ setbacks

The refugees will remain on the ship for the foreseeable future

A ship carrying Ukrainian refugees arrived in Scotland earlier this year, and last week the second arrived.

There are no homes for these refugees who have just arrived in Scotland, so the majority of the refugees stay on the ship.

Until there is a place available for them, Ukrainian refugees who were forced to leave their country due to the Russian invasion will continue to call the ship home.

Scotland’s Minister for Ukrainian Refugees, Neil Gray, said the ship would provide “safe and sustainable” accommodation while people waited to be matched with long-term accommodation.

He added: “The arrival of MS Ambition is a key part of this arrangement, which means we provide shelter to more displaced people per capita than any other part of the UK.

“We don’t want people to spend more time in temporary accommodation, like cruise ships, longer than necessary.

“We continue to take significant steps to increase our temporary accommodation capacity as well as strengthen our buddy system to maximize the number of people who can be placed with volunteer hosts.”
